3 minute Documentaries (Three Minute Wonder)

Sleeping Rough

This documentary is about what it is like to sleep on the streets, it shows that it isn't the nicest thing to do. at the start it shows the rich estate with housing figures facts and comparing it to the one of the highest ranked places for homelessness in England, Bournemouth. he sleeps for one night on those streets to see what it is actually like. it turns out the experience wasn't very pleasant due to the temperatures and sleeping on the concrete floors. he is trying to promote what it is actually like to be homeless so people are aware.

pros of this documentary:

  • Very Informative - contains numerous facts and figures
  • actually experiences the situation - like some documentaries, they just talk through about it and don't experience it.
  • the editing wasn't overkill - so now filters, no fancy text. it goes to show that he wants to provide the information instead of showing off his editing.
Cons Of This Documentary
  • some parts i did struggle to hear properly - needs dialog
  • huge transition gaps - one minute he is in the town center and the other minute he was at the beach

Free Running

This documentary is about Free Running, where basically jumping and climbing over stuff. i really didn't extract much information out of this, it was really difficult to learn anything from this. what i did understand that he is in a group of Free Runners and he is teaching others how to Free Run. only a few facts were mentioned. i think he is trying to promote Free Running and just its pros. which as mean as it sounds, in a documentary, you have to look at both sides!

Pros of this documentary:
  •  No overkill editing - nothing too fancy
  • visually shows what the documentary is about
Cons of this documentary:
  • Lacks facts - has a huge limit of facts
  • Was difficult to understand
  • was all over the place, so one second he was talking, the other second he is climbing a wall and the other second he walking?

Life

This documentary is about life, at start i thought he was going to go on about how bad life is for our humans but over the basis of the minute and a half, he was actually talking about extinct animals and constantly throwing questions at the audience. with this one, it is all audio based, the video was literally him looking around a museum looking a artifacts. personally i found this documentary very boring and not catchy at all. great information and great questions but it  has not kind of effort in my opinion.

Pros of this documentary:

  • it was deep - some of the questions were deep and got me thinking
  • it was on topic - he wasn't talking about life while providing us with information with cars.
Cons of this documentary:
  • He didn't express well on what he was going to talk about
  • the video wasn't interesting - it was just him talking over a video of him walking around a museum.
  • He was stuttering too much - not judging but he was stuttering too much in this video. when i commentate over a video, i keep doing it until it is perfect, which i feel like there was a lack of effort in this documentary but i can feel like he is trying to tell us something.
