Documentary Proposal + Research

Documentary Idea: Video Game Addiction

A addiction is where a person or something has a stuck mind set of a certain topic. so in this case video games. as it is easy to get stuck into gaming. its to the extent of the equivalent of being addicted to heroin.

first thing i did is google "video game addiction facts". the first thing that came up is 8.5 percent of Americans between the ages of 8-18 gets addicted to video games. so that is roughly 3 million people.

THE GOVERNMENT RECOMMENDED TIME INTERACTING WITH A ANY SCREEN IS A HOUR A DAY

the first thing it says is that if a game who is addicted to video games shows a irritable behavior so this includes, nagging and forms of aggression. this can be verbal aggression and physical aggression deepening on how bad the person is.

can cause eye strain. can really damage your eyesight.

poor personal hygiene. depending how bad the person is again, the person would prioritize pretty much over anything for gaming. so lets take a scenario. you wake up, your room is a mess and you need breakfast. the boy/girl has a console/pc waiting to be played.

a normal person would: get dressed and wash etc. and have a decent breakfast without cutting corners or rushing and sit down for a hour and play a video game. come off it without getting fixated.

A Addicted Gamer Would: just get up, depending oh how lazy the person is, get dressed (no properly) and mostly forget about breakfast. then mostly spend most of his day on his video games.

these long term effects can be, failing you GCSES (which happened to me), destroy your social life (happened to me) and don't have the skills to work etc.
not sounding mean or anything but i know some gamers who literally have no life can't even create a non gaming discussion and are life stuck into playing video games. also lack of drink can cause dehydration and dry mouth (where you can get your words out clearly).

The worst part of gaming addiction is that overtime, you can get extremely depressed and end up doing self harm, suicidal thoughts and you just feel like you don't have the will to live.

playing video gaemes can lower your temper span causing you to flip out very quickly

the clip below shows how angry some kids get over a video game. here we have a adult recording gameplay of a famous game known a minecraft. it is a server so multiple people can play on it and this kid gets so angry and end up smashing his mums laptop.

the second video is where a addictive adult who skipped college for months and his dad noes all of this guy's video games

(completely staged by the way but it does reflect well how some people would act in this scenario)

this last video is of a kid that refuses to come down as he is fixated to paying his xbox one. the parents had enough and grabs his xbox and literally takes a shotgun destroying the xbox one. this is a extreme punishment but this is maybe the best way to deal with a kid who is overly obsessed with their video games.

Survey
i did a quick survey to find out how much people play video games. i got 4 responses on the survey and i also asked how much money they spend on video games a month!

secondary research

i would class myself as addicted to video games. but i wouldn't say i'm bad to the extent of needing to mow over my video games. i usually spend around 3-6 hours a day on video games. i do other stuff like the genial thing but i mostly dedicate most of my free time to video games. but i have seen people in face who are life dedicated to their video games and they are sometimes hard to socialize with .
